What to Expect from Our Referral Process

At Mind St Helens, we aim to make accessing support as straightforward and supportive as possible. Here’s what you can expect once a referral is made:

  1. Online Form Submission
The process begins when we receive your completed referral form through our website.
  2. Initial Contact
Within one week, a member of our team will contact you by phone to discuss your referral and next steps.
  3. Appointment Booking
We will arrange an appointment for you with one of our social workers to explore your needs in more detail.
  4. Assessment
A support worker will carry out an assessment to determine the most appropriate support. This may lead to:

    1. An internal referral to one of our in-house services, or
    2. An external referral to a partner organisation better suited to your needs.
  5. Referral Paperwork & Wellbeing Questionnaire
If you’re referred to a group or befriending service, we’ll complete the necessary paperwork and a wellbeing questionnaire to help tailor the support to you.
  6. Start of Engagement
You’ll begin engaging with the service or group that’s right for you.
  7. Follow-Up
After your initial engagement, we’ll check in with you to see how things are going and ensure you’re getting the support you need.
  8. Ongoing Support & Review
To monitor progress and wellbeing, we’ll ask you to complete a wellbeing questionnaire every three months.
